Why more buyers want sustainable homes
Demand for sustainable homes is increasing. COVID has brought sustainability to the forefront in dramatic fashion....
One of the most obvious impacts COVID has had on the first-time home buyer market is to increase demand for high quality living spaces. Buyers are less interested in high-rise city living and are more focused upon lifestyle-focused homes in suburbs where they can still access conveniences like schools, cafes and restaurants. This makes sense as COVID has highlighted to many buyers that high density living comes with downsides which are not for everyone.
New homes are proving particularly popular amongst first time home buyers in a post-COVID world. Many buyers are discovering they can create their dream space, and often for less money than an older home. Most are also interested in having an accessible garden space, which when buying a house and land package, is a blank canvas. As a result, more buyers are concluding that new home and land packages tick a lot of their boxes.
Landen’s Director Rashed Panabig understands why: ‘If you’re a first-time home buyer with the choice between a new home and an older home, it seems to me to be a no brainer. A new home provides you with the ability to create your dream home in which everything is brand new and maintenance-free, and you don’t need to sacrifice convenience. Our Rouse Hill properties, for example, are located right next to shopping centres, train stations, and schools. These land packages are 500sqm which means buyers also receive a lovely garden. It’s a great location for an easy and convenient lifestyle.’
